Our Approach to Materiality

WAICA Re employs a double materiality assessment approach as it evaluates not only how sustainability issues affect a company’s financial performance but also the impact of the company’s operations on society and the environment, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of its full range of influences and responsibilities.

Our approach to choosing sustainability topics is anchored by both the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). We then engage with our key stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of what is important to them in terms of how we manage the company and incorporate their requirements into our broader business strategy.

SASB Sustainability Accounting Standards Board

Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)

SASB helps identify sustainability issues that are financially material to businesses and relevant to decision-making.

Global Reporting Initiative GRI

Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)

GRI provides a widely used framework for understanding and reporting an organisation’s impacts on the economy, environment and people.

DOUBLE MATERIALITY

Understanding What Matters

Our assessment considers sustainability from two connected perspectives: the effect sustainability matters can have on WAICA Re’s business and financial performance, and the effect our activities can have on people, communities and the environment.
